‘Confession’ fliers sent to disengagement officers, ‘admit’ betrayal and destruction of Israel
“Confession of an evacuator” fliers, signed by Hamate Hameshutaf (an evacuees organization), arrived at the homes of northern district police officers in recent days.
The police expressed surprise and rage at the fact that the fliers were sent to individuals who had participated in the disengagement, meaning those who sent them had exact information on their identities.
The police told Ynet Thursday that they meant to convey the documents to the police national headquarters for investigation.
The fliers began arriving at the officers’ homes a day before Yom Kippur, and were addressed to “every minister, Knesset member, politician, clerk, soldier, policeman, officer, driver, crane operator, tractor driver, bulldozer operator, cook, guard, etc. – all of them”.
The fliers contained ‘admissions’ such as “we blamed, we betrayed, we took from our people and our country. We oppressed, we abused, we expelled our brothers and sisters.”
One officer who received a flier commented to Ynet, “This is audacity, among other things, since the documents were sent directly to the officers homes. If anyone has objections or complaints, they should appeal to the appropriate deciding political echelon.”
The northern district noted that this was not a new phenomenon, and that similar letters had been sent to officers in the past.
