Advanced Kassam on the Way to Urban Centers

(IsraelNN.com) The Hamas al-Kassam Brigades warned Wednesday that its terrorists are developing an advanced Kassam rocket that can reach the center of Israel. Terrorist spokesman Abu Obadya said Hamas does not plan to fire the Russian-built Grad missiles, which Israel has said are in their possession, but prefers to develop the Kassam. He said the missiles will be used against Ashkelon and other cities.

The Defense Ministry has ordered the installation of a missile alert system for Ashkelon according to Mideast Newsline. The system is far more advanced than the 20-second warning system installed in Sderot. Ashkelon is a port city, where a large power station and oil and gas lines are located.
