Maj.-Gen. Yogev: Retake Gaza 11:43 Feb 07, '07 / 19 Shevat 5767(IsraelNN.com) Major-General Moti Yogev says that the only solution to recent security threats is to retake control of Gaza. Following the expulsion of Jews from Gaza in 2005, terrorist groups have grown stronger, he said, and the only solution is to gain ground control over the area.
Yogev gave several reasons for his opinion, including the tunnels that run between Gaza and Egypt and between Gaza and Israel. Yogev pointed out that demolishing tunnels is difficult when they are very close to Israeli towns, as are the tunnels that terrorists dig near the kibbutzim of the western Negev. He also explained that without an army presence in Gaza, Israel is lacking crucial intelligence information on terrorist activity.
Yogev also reacted to the recent statements from Major-General Yom Tov Samiya. Samiya criticized head of General Security Services Yuval Diskin for discussing the security situation in a press conference on Monday. Yogev said that Diskin’s speech was necessary in order to open the eyes of the government to the threat posed by the PA.
We left Gaza and it is over and done with for now, lets learn the lesson and never give the Arabs any more of our land.
The time has come for the IDF to make ready for the war in Gaza and the north that looks like it is coming this summer.
