The security forces are prepared for continued violence Sunday in protest against the construction work near the Mugrabi Gate in Jerusalem's Old City. Police say intelligence points to efforts by both Fatah and Hamas to fan the flames in the capital.

The high security alert around the Old City will continue Sunday, although police do not expect the violence to reach the same level as Friday.

Additional officers will patrol the area and police roadblocks will be erected in East Jerusalem and roads east of the city. The restrictions on entry to the Temple Mount will continue, with only Muslim men with Israeli identity cards aged 45 and over, and Muslim women of any age, being allowed in. Tourists and Israeli Jews will continue to be barred from the site.
