Syria Escalates Anti-Israel Incitement

(IsraelNN.com) Syrian has exploited the archaeological digging next to the Temple Mount to escalate incitement against Israel. One cartoon in a Syrian daily newspaper shows the stereotype of a Jew digging near the site and preparing to explode a grenade in order to blow up the Middle East.

A sermon on Radio Damascus charged that Jews are breaking agreements concerning the Al Aksa mosque located on the Temple Mount. It called on Muslims to fight against Jews and Israel. A Syrian television station charged Israel with destroying part of the site. Thousands of protestors marched in the capital to condemn "the crimes of the Israeli occupation."

One government minister stated on television, "We shall not allow those who killed the prophets to destroy also the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Destroying the Mosque is only the beginning, after which they will destroy the Church of Nativity and other churches as well."
