Bill Clinton: Israel-Syria peace deal could be reached within 35 minutes By Ze'ev Schiff, Haaretz Correspondent, Haaretz Service and APA peace agreement between Israel and Syria could be reached within 35 minutes, former U.S. president Bill Clinton told the Lebanon-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper in an interview published Sunday.
Clinton said Israel and Syria were very close to reaching an agreement in 1998, adding that an accord could be reached assuming Iran does not play a role in the issue.
The former U.S. president also said that, in his opinion, the 1995 assassination of then-prime minister Yitzhak Rabin led to the failure of the peace process.
"[Former Palestinian Authority chairman Yasser] Arafat really trusted Rabin, and the assassination of Rabin killed the peace process," he said.Clinton told the newspaper that secret negotiations, like those conducted in Oslo that led to the 1993 Declaration of Principles between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, are the only way through which to resolve the conflict in the Middle East.
Of course Israel can make "peace" with all all enemies in 35 minutes give into their demands and that is how to get a Clinton or a Carter type peace deal which will allow an American President to bask in the "glory" of a peace deal. But puts Israel at risk.
I can do Clinton one better Israel can achieve "peace" for all time in the Middle East in less than 60 seconds.
The IDF issues every father a rifle and ammo and at the stroke of midnight he lines his whole family up in the living room kills his whole family and turns the rifle on himself.
"Peace" is less than 60 seconds.
Israel needs leadership that rejects the word peace, too many Jews have been murdered because of peace, too much land that was won with blood has been given to the enemies of the Jewish people.
One word must reign supreme in the language of the leaders of Israel to give Israel a future and that word is VICTORY.
We must fight to achieve victory over our enemies.
