Abbas: Mideast summit will fail if no prior agreement is reached
By ReutersPalestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said on Sunday he wanted the upcoming Middle East conference to result in a framework agreement for Israeli-Palestinian peace and set a timeline for implementation.
"We are concerned that November 15 will come - if this will indeed be the date for this international conference - without arriving at a specific agreement on all the issues, and that this meeting will be described as a failure," Abbas said.
Abbas has been pressing a reluctant Israel to discuss in depth matters at the core of any future agreement on Palestinian statehood - the shape of final borders and the fate of Jerusalem and Palestinian refugees.
"We need a framework agreement with a timeline for implementation," he said at a news conference with Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign policy chief."We do not want a meeting that results in merely a statement. We do not want a meeting that will end up a failure for everybody," Abbas said.
A senior Abbas aide said the Palestinian leader and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert failed to bridge their differences on the issue at their last meeting, on August 28.
Abbas said last week the conference proposed by United States President George W. Bush would be a waste of time if Israel continued to seek only a broadbrush "declaration of principles".
Israeli officials have used that phrase to describe what Olmert might offer in answer to calls for rapid, final talks in details on establishing a Palestinian state.
Raising the bar too high, the officials have said, could lead to disappointment and crush renewed efforts to revive peacemaking stalled by seven years of violence.
So Abbas wants Israel to give in on every issue without the Palestinians giving in on any issue much less their goal for the destruction of the State of Israel and the murder of 6,000,000 Jews.
Is President Bush stupid enough to force this on Israel and is Olmert and Israel stupid enough to agree to this.
But we know that Israel has in writing agreed to almost every thing that the Palestinians have demanded the only two issues remaining are the right of return for Palestinians that ran away from Israel in 1948 when the Arabs leaders called on them to do so. Israel has agreed to admit these refugees are the fault of Israeli actions during the war and is ready to give them money. Who gave my in laws money for what they left behind in Yemen, or for that matter what became of the silver and gold that the representative of the Jewish Agency took from them, giving them a receipt to reclaim the gold and silver when they arrived in Israel.
The second issue is that the Palestinians do not want any Jewish towns left in Judea and Samaria, Israel has said that we will keep the larger towns and give up land from the pre 1967 Israel to compensate the Palestinians for this.
The time to force Olmert from office is long past and every member of Knesset knows what Olmert is willing to give up and they still allow this mad man to retain office.
They are all Cowards, Scum and Traitors for what they are doing to the Jewish people.
