An IDF paratrooper was killed and another was wounded during heavy fighting in Nablus early Tuesday morning.

The soldier died of wounds he received when a bullet fired by a gunman penetrated the seam of his flak jacket and entered his chest. A military doctor initially treated the soldier, who was in critical condition, on the scene, before the soldier was evacuated by an IAF helicopter. He died on the way to hospital. The Islamic Jihad and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) claimed responsibility for the shooting.
