Perfect Storm
Published: 09/04/07, 9:07 PM Violence Pays? Bil'in Victorious in High Court by Gil Ronen(IsraelNN.com) The High Court ruled Tuesday in favor of the petitioner, Bil'in Village Council Head Ahmed Abdullah Yasin, regarding the segment of the Judea and Samaria security fence that passes between the Arab village of Bil'in and the Jewish city of Modi'in Illit (also known as Kiryat Sefer). The petitioner claimed that the fence's present route separates the villagers' houses from some of their agricultural land.
The section of the fence that is to be dismantled and moved is 1.7 km (about 1 mile) long. Besides taking up 260 dunams of the village's land, the village's Council Head claimed it cut it off from 1,700 dunams of its agricultural land. The cost of every kilometer of fence is estimated at NIS 10 million.
The site of the fence at Bil'in has been the venue for weekly violent riots by Arabs and sympathizers from the Israeli and international Left. Policemen and soldiers have been injured at least a dozen times since the incidents began, in April 2005, including one occasion in which a soldier lost sight in one of his eyes.
Arabs celebrate
Residents of Bil'in celebrated the ruling Tuesday, playing musical instruments and waving the Palestinian flag. The Israeli pro-Arab group "Peace Now" issued a statement complimenting the court on its decision and claiming that "it proves that the Bil'in villagers' opposition had been justified."
Once again the Supreme of Israel has proven that it is the court for the Arabs and does nothing to protect the interest of the Jews of Israel.
We now have the makings of the perfect storm, an anti Jewish Knesset and Court are both racing to weaken the future of the Jewish people in Israel.
May G-D deliver the Jewish people from our leadership.
