Rice Steps Back from Nov. 26 Mideast Summit Date

(IsraelNN.com) In what appears to be a step back from the November 26 date set for the U.S.-sponsored Mideast summit, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Tuesday the meeting would be held in November or December.

Following her meeting in Cairo with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak Tuesday afternoon, Rice tried to put a positive spin on the situation at a joint news conference with Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

“I do think the prospect of the meeting has given them (Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas) some momentum in the document they are trying to forge,” she said.

Hopefully the USA will pay attention to Israeli politicians from all parties saying that the summit is a bad idea.
