Itzik Blames Public, Media for Knesset Image
Itzik Blames Public, Media for Knesset Image(IsraelNN.com) In a speech to the Knesset on Monday, Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik (Kadima) warned that the Knesset was increasingly unpopular with the public. The first reason for the drop in popularity was the public itself, she said, because the public did not understand that the Knesset is “one side of the triangle of powers.”
The second reason for the drop was the media, she said, accusing Israeli journalists of focusing on unusual or unimportant events “and not the amazing work done between these walls.” The third cause of the Knesset’s low popularity was the behavior of the Members of Knesset themselves, Itzik said. She said she would work to improve the Knesset’s image during the winter session.
The problem with the Knesset is not the public nor the media.
The problem with the Knesset is the 120 members that sit in the building and how they act and their disconnect with the Israeli public.
