Exclusive Phone Call With A Soldier
I had a phone conversation with an IDF soldier today. I will not identify him or his unit for his protection, other than to say they are assigned duties in Judea and Samaria (west bank) . He had planned on being a career officer in the IDF until now.
"I want to tell you that we have a really messed up army"
I replied "what do you mean"
"We were attacked last night by a fairly large group of Palestinians throwing cement blocks and bottles at us from the roof tops. When we contacted our base via radio to inform them of the attack we were told not to respond to the attack and leave the area"
I responded with the following question " How is this different from the rules of engagement that you normally follow"
"Usually we respond with concussion grenades first, then we can move up to tear gas etc. the soldier told me.
Why the change I asked?
Politics, "peace" is in the air so we can't fight so while the bastards give our land away we have to stand and take what the Palestinians throw at us, want to bet me when a major terror attack is going to happen? I am done with this when my term is up I quit. I may even leave Israel rather than sit here and watch the place fall apart. I hate the leaders of Israel more than I hate the Arabs, kind of messed up isn't it.
I told him to tough it out and not to leave the IDF or Israel for the day is coming that we will need officers of his caliber to lead the country.
