Facts Can Be Troublsome

Published: 11.15.07, 22:15 / Israel NewsWhile the debate continues to rage over the proposal of cutting off Israeli-supplied electricity to the Gaza Strip as a punitive measure in wake of unceasing Palestinian rocket fire towards southern Israel, Israel is actually making sure the power is up and running smoothly along the coastal strip.
Earlier this week a technical malfunction in the electricity network in northern Gaza caused a power outage that some Palestinians thought was the beginning of the "Gaza blackout" plan proposed by Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
To solve the problem, the Israel Electric Corp. (IEC) agreed to transfer the equipment needed to fix the network to their Gazan counterparts. Senior Israeli officials confirmed that the IDF had facilitated the transfer.
The officials further said that the operation had been a success and the Palestinians were able to restore power.
The IEC emphasized that none if its personnel entered Gaza or directly participated in the repairs.
Facts can be troublesome, but when you fail to deal with reality then you become as stupid as a Knesset member or a member of the U.S. State Department.
So let's examine the facts.
1. Rockets still are being fire out of Gaza into southern Israel.
2. Gaza is a terrorist safe house on a major scale, more weapons are in Gaza today than ever.
3. Jews can not enter Gaza in safety, Arabs from Gaza can enter Israel without fear.
The electricity goes out in Gaza, so what.
The lights should stay out in Gaza for as long as the above facts remain.
It was not lost on me that the IDF had to enact the transfer rather than workers of the Israel Electric Company because it is just too dangerous for Jews with out being escorted by tanks and armored personnel carriers.
