Poll: Settlers More Represent Israelis Than Peace Now
(IsraelNN.com) A Knesset TV Channel poll posed questions about Israeli society and policy vis-à-vis the Arab-Israeli conflict. When asked who better represents the Israeli public, the residents of Yesha (Judea and Samaria) or Peace Now, 43.2% said the Yesha residents while 21.2% said Peace Now. The remainder were undecided or didn't answer.
A second question was posed: "In hindsight, who was right: the Yesha residents who opposed the Disengagement, or Peace Now who supported it?" 54.2% of those polled said that the Yesha residents were right, while 26.9% said Peace Now was right. 18.9% were undecided. 49.5% said that following the June, 2007 Hamas takeover of Gaza, the towns of Judea and Samaria should be strengthened.
The poll was publicized on a Knesset TV Channel show at 3:15PM Monday, during a debate between MK Tzvi Hendel, formerly from Gaza, and Peace Now director Yariv Oppenheimer.
Will Olmert look at this poll and learn from it and the hard lesson of the Gaza retreat and turn away from the American pushed "peace" summit?
When will Israel have a leader that wants nothing short of victory over the enemies of the Jewish people?
