Yoni On Annapolis
Today in Annapolis we once again were able to observe how out of touch leaders can be.
We also have seen facts being created that will haunt Israel for generations to come even if nothing comes out of these talks. For the grim truth is that in the Middle East ideas that are put up for possible discussion today become tomorrow’s starting point for future talks.
This is why my position is, Israel should never negotiate. Since every time, we have done so we come out on the losing side.
President Bush spoke of three main ideas today, first the creation of a Palestinians State, second dignity for the Palestinians and lastly democracy for the Palestinians and the Middle East.
Why should the United State help to conceive and give birth to a Palestinians State is beyond me. It makes a mockery of the war on Islamic terror, by rewarding Islamic terrorist with a victory. Today through out the Middle East from Iran to the House of Saud, the enemies of freedom are laughing because they know America stands like a paper tiger against their desires to rebuild the caliphate.
Dignity for the Palestinians, what does this mean?
Does it mean an end to check points, free movement for terrorist and their weapons? If Palestinians have to stand in line for 20 minutes to go through a check point and it saves a single Jewish life, so what.
I hear nothing of the dignity of Jews, when a woman or man has their clothing blown off in a suicide bombing, is this dignity?
When a family is murdered together for the crime of being Jewish or a child is forced to grow up missing an eye or a limb, is this dignified.
President Bush is a hypocrite, he speaks of democracy, but if he believes in democracy where is Hamas?
Hamas was voted into power in a free election, so why is Abbas in Annapolis?
President Bush also spoke about democracy through out the Middle East; does he not understand that if free and open elections occurred in the Middle East, who the winner would be?
Barring military coups such as happened in Algeria, the winner in free and fair elections in the Middle East would be Islamic Fundamentalist.
I for one support this, after these free and fair elections we all would understand where we stand, and face the threat head on.
President Abbas spoke of the right of return of the Palestinian refugees, where are these people going to return to? Can these people not be integrated into Arab society where they live now, just as Israel integrated 800,000 Jewish refugees from Arab countries?
Abbas called for Gaza to be physically connected as to Judea and Samaria as part of the future Palestinian State.
This would cut Israel in two and allow free movement of terrorist and weapons from Gaza to Judea and Samaria (west bank).
Abbas appealed to the world community to send more financial aid to the Palestinians, why should the world do so. The Palestinians have never accounted for the multiple billions of dollars they have received every year since Oslo. Does Abbas want to line his Swiss bank account before he leaves office?
Abbas told Palestinian prisoners that they would be free as part of any settlement, do these terrorist not need to pay the price for being terrorist? Should these terrorist be turned free to once again pick up arms to murder Jews, as has happened in every prisoner release.
Lastly Abbas stated that Annapolis will bring an end to the Palestinian Holocaust.
How dare he, if the Palestinians had suffered a Holocaust then the issue would have been settled long ago in the death camps that Israel had built. But Israel would never, even after suffering from Palestinian terrorism for over 100 years resort to sinking to this level.
Lastly regarding Olmert, yesterday he told the Jewish people that Jerusalem was an Israeli issue and not a Jewish issue.
How dare he.
For 2,000 years Jews, not Israelis prayed to return to their homeland and Jerusalem.
He spoke today that a difficult process that lay ahead for Israel and that he was ready for it.
What difficulty is he speaking of, a civil war between Israeli’s and Jews?
Olmert cares more about the so called humiliation of the Palestinians, than he does about the future of Israel and the Jewish people.
Olmert tonight is patting himself on the back for calling out the names of the captured Israeli soldiers. If he really cared he would have refused to go the Annapolis until the soldiers had been returned to Israel.
The problem with these talks is not that they will fail, for they will fail. The problem is every idea no matter how crazy that is thrown out today will become the starting place for negotiations of tomorrow.
The true representatives of the Palestinians spoke today not in Annapolis but in Israel with 6 separate rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel and an attempted bombing today.
