www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/953638.htmlSenior Shas officials have criticized the escalation in recent days by party
chairman and Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Eli Yishai of his threats to
quit the coalition. They say that the party's spiritual leader, Rabbi Ovadia
Yosef, does not want to leave the government at this stage. In addition,
they say, the calls to leave contradict the position taken by the Council of
Torah Sages three weeks ago, according to which Shas will leave the cabinet
only if and when the issue of Jerusalem is discussed in negotiations with
the Palestinians. The Shas sources say that because Yosef does not believe
that the negotiations will lead to real results on their current trajectory,
due to the weak position of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, he sees no
need for Shas to intensify its threats.
The sources emphasized, however, that Yosef is aware of recent statements
ascribed to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, to the effect that Jerusalem has
already been put on the negotiating table, and that he asked Yishai to
request clarifications from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert after he returns from
Germany.
I used to be a Shas voter.
I will never vote for Shas again.
Their was a time when I viewed Shas as the only political party in Israel that was doing something good for their voters.
Sending your kids to school in Israel is not free it cost money, Shas provided free schooling with hot food for the kids. At these schools the children were taught Torah. Shas was repairing the damage that a socialist state had done to the Mizrachi Jews. People were returning to Torah, parents were being educated and pulled back to being Jews by their children.
But Shas then lost its way and viewed the finacial support of their schools as more important that Israel remaining strong and in possession of the Land that G-D gave us.
I then stopped voting for Shas.
Shas or more specific Rav Ovadia is going to fiddle while Jerusalem burns.
For What?
Money.
When you claim to be a religious political party, and you are backing an evil government such as Olmert, what conclusion can we draw.
Olmert has stood by while the blood of Jews is being shed, they are working to give away not only the heartland of biblical Israel Judea and Samaria, they also seek to rid Am Israel of Jerusalem.
But Shas stays with Olmert for cash, when you violate your principles in return for money, what does this make you?
