(IsraelNN.com) Israel’s Institute of Technology, the Technion, is set to introduce a miniature crawling robot with the potential to treat lung cancer by performing precise medical procedures inside the human body. The robot, ViRob, can navigate and crawl within blood vessels, the digestive tract, and the respiratory system, move in tight spaces and curved passages, and remain for periods of time within the body.

The robot will be official presented at the upcoming Israel Life Sciences Industry Biomed Conference. “This robot is a major breakthrough in the biomedical industry, as it allows doctors to access inaccessible areas in the body with minimal invasion. The technology enables a centralized treatment without scattering materials to unnecessary areas in the body," said Technion's Kahn Medical Robotics Laboratory head Professor Moshe Shoham.
