An Israeli woman sustained mild injuries Saturday evening when Palestinians
threw stones at the taxi she was riding in along with her husband near the
village of Azoun, located southeast of Qalqilya in the West Bank.
The woman was treated at the scene and then evacuated to Meir Hospital in
Kfar Saba.
IDF soldiers who were alerted to the scene reported that the woman's husband
fired several shots at a nearby olive grove and threw stones at a passing
Palestinian vehicle. There were no reports of injury from the Palestinians,
but police said they will launch an investigation into the incident.
Saturday saw three other incidents in which Palestinians threw stones at
Israeli vehicles in the West Bank, but there were no reports of injury.
Also Saturday, about 20 Palestinians hurled stones at the security fence
surrounding the community of Karmei Tzur, south of Bethlehem. IDF forces
responded with tear gas. The Palestinians dispersed shortly thereafter.
In another incident, some 30 Palestinians gathered near the village of
Burin, southwest of Nablus, and threw stones at IDF soldiers, who fired tear
gas in response.
There were no reports of injury in either incident.
