Monday (Sept. 13) began with two separate incidents of rocket fire towards
Israel. In each case, a rocket was launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel,
landing in open territory near Sderot. The last launching was the sixth in
two days.
There were also several reported attacks by Palestinians against Israeli
vehicles. In two separate incidents which took place near Karme Zur and Alfe
Menashe, hurled rocks damaged Israeli vehicles traveling in the respective
areas.
A third incident resulted in an Israeli civilian sustaining light injuries
when Palestinians hurled rocks and damaged his car while he was traveling
near Shilo. Finally, also on Monday, rocks were hurled and damaged an
Israeli bus traveling near Teqoa.
IDF forces are currently searching the above mentioned areas for suspects.
Despite the numerous acts of terrorism against Israel, IDF's Coordinator for
Government Activities in the Territories (CoGAT), which oversees the
coordination of civilian issues between the Palestinian Authority, the
Israeli Government, the IDF, international organizations and international
diplomats, has continued its regular transfer of humanitarian aid into the
Gaza Strip.
On Monday, 180 trucks carrying humanitarian equipment were transferred by
CoGAT into the Gaza Strip. In addition to this regular daily transfer, 250
tons of construction materials for the renovation of a sewage treatment
plant in central Gaza were brought in.
Israel holds Hamas solely responsible for activities within the Gaza Strip
and for maintaining quiet there. However, IDF's CoGAT has been and continues
to be responsible for the coordination of people entering and exiting the
Gaza Strip, the facilitation of activities of international organizations
within the Gaza Strip, and the supplying of needs to the civilian
Palestinian population there.
