A day after GOC Homefront Command Maj. Gen. Eyal Eisenberg created a firestorm when he claimed there was an increased likelihood of all-out war in the Middle East, one that might include weapons of mass destruction, Defense Minister Ehud Barak sought to allay fears, saying there is no reason for such a war in the Middle East.
“We do not see a reason why any of our enemies would launch a broad attack against Israel at this time,” Barak said after touring the northern border on Tuesday. “They know full-well why they should not even think about using chemical weapons against Israel.”
Defense Ministry Policy and Political-Military Affairs Director Maj. Gen. (res.) Amos Gilad also contested Eisenberg's claims Tuesday on Army Radio. “There is no situational analysis pointing to a broad regional war. Currently things are stable and there is no reason to foster panic,” Gilad said.
They wouldn't dare?
Why what are you going to do Mr. Defense Minister hold your breath till you turn blue?
What has Israel done to assure that they do not hit Israel with chemical weapons?
Allow ourselves to be hit with hundreds of rockets without hitting back in a way that brings and end to the attacks.
We have show us to be weak.
